What is CLAEP?

The Council believes that the university students who take a course in journalism can be better trained to the extent that his or her institution is governed by international standards of quality.

The Latin American Council of Accreditation of Journalism Education (CLAEP) is dedicated to the encouragement and promotion of excellence in journalism schools. The Council believes that university journalism students can be better trained when the teaching institution is governed by international standards of quality..

The Council recognizes that freedom of expression and press freedom are essential in a free society and that the professional training offered by the accredited programs should encourage dissent, inquiry and freedom of expression.
